What is to be chosen?

At some point, you thought, What is chosen by the Lord?

That is a question that has been in the hearts of the believers for generations. To be chosen is at once a privilege and a responsibility that has great play in our lives. In this piece, I want to look at what it is for us to be set apart by the Lord and how we may answer His calling in our day-to-day life.

In the pages of the Bible, we see that the Lord Jesus Christ chose certain individuals for His divine plan. By being “chosen,” we are not meant to think that we are perfect or above others. Instead, it is that He has a special purpose for each of us.

Understanding What It Means to Be Chosen by the Lord

Scripture shows us examples of the Lord Jesus Christ choosing individuals for His divine purpose. Being “chosen” does not mean we are perfect or more worthy than others. Instead, it signifies that the Lord has a specific plan for each one of us for his glory. He calls us into a relationship with Him, inviting us to walk closely with Him, grow in faith, and reflect His love in the world, by our behavior, showing respect for others, loving one another, and glorifying his name by our life.

John 15:16 says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.”

When we are chosen by Lord Jesus Christ, it means, The Lord has set us apart to bear good fruit, impacting lives around us and glorifying Him through our words and actions.

Biblical Examples of the Chosen

The Lord has always chosen ordinary people for extraordinary purposes:

*Abraham – The Lord chose him to be the father of many nations despite his old age. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2)

*Moses – A man who doubted his ability to speak was chosen to lead Israel out of slavery. “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (Exodus 4:12)

*David – A young shepherd boy was anointed to be the future king of Israel. “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

*Mary – A humble young woman chosen to bring the Savior into the world: “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.” (Luke 1:31)

Each of these individuals has weaknesses and challenges, but the Lord’s calling in their lives was greater than their limitations. Moses feared public speaking, yet he led the Israelites out of Egypt. David was just a shepherd boy, but he became a king after being chosen by Yahuwah. If the Lord could use them despite their weaknesses, He can surely use us too!.

Embracing Your Calling

If you feel the Lord is leading you, do not fear or worry. He does not call the perfect; He makes the imperfect perfect. Your path is unique, and the Lord will equip you for the purpose He has designed for you. Take time to pray, seek His direction in His word, and put yourself among believers, which will encourage you to press on for a great future. As He was with Moses, David, and Mary, He is with you to guide and support you in living a blessed life by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A Prayer for the Chosen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me for Your divine purpose. Even when I feel unworthy or unqualified, I trust that You see something in me that I may not see in myself. Help me to walk boldly in the calling You have placed on my life. Guide my steps, strengthen my faith, and use me for Your glory. I surrender my plans to You and ask that You lead me in Your perfect way. May my life reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name in Jesus ‘ name we pray. Amen.

Please pass this along to your family and friends as we all grow spiritually and be a blessing to our loved ones.
